7 Things You Should Do During a Weekend in Vegas

During an average year, Las Vegas sees over 40 million visitors. No wonder!

Vegas is one of the most unique places in the USA with a whole host of awesome activities to suit anyone.

If you’re planning a weekend in Vegas and don’t have as much time as you’d like to see everything, here’s what you absolutely must do.

  1. The Bellagio Fountain Show

You’ve likely heard of the Bellagio Fountain Show, but nothing compares to seeing it. The display is magnificent, with water soaring as high as 460 feet in the air.

You can see this show every day, though the times vary depending on the day of the week. From Monday to Friday, it’s every thirty minutes from three until seven pm and every fifteen from seven pm until midnight. On the weekends, the first part of the schedule runs from noon until seven.

The Bellagio is right there on the Strip, so it’s not difficult to find and you can squeeze it into your day pretty easily.

  1. The Stratosphere

If you’ve got some time to wander off the Strip on your Vegas trip, the Strat (formerly and more commonly known as the Stratosphere) is a short distance away. You can take a cab or even walk to it.

It has the tallest observation tower in the United States, so you can go all the way to the top for some breathtaking views. Enjoy a drink at the bar or even have dinner there!

If you love an adrenaline rush, there are some theme park-style rides at the top to really get your blood pumping. It’s something you can’t miss, no matter how little time you have in the city.

  1. Gamble at the Casinos

It might be cliché to say you have to gamble at the casinos during a trip to Las Vegas but it is, after all, Vegas’ main attraction!

The Strip is littered with famous casinos that have many interesting backstories and have been featured in many movies. Whether you like games like poker and blackjack or would rather have a go on the slot machines, there are many different styles to indulge in.

Just be careful not to go too far. It’s easy to get carried away and lose everything!

  1. Visit the Unique Bars

From classy prohibition bars to more modern themes, there’s a cool bar for everyone in Las Vegas. Don’t go to the run-of-the-mill pub you’d find in your own city — seek out the ones that are exclusive to Vegas and have a good time there.

You’ll often find burlesque and music performances at many of these as well as other cool experiences.

If you’re going to spend nights drinking in Vegas, it’s a good idea to make it a worthwhile experience.

  1. The Mob Museum

The Mob Museum has made it its mission to teach Americans about the impact of organized crime on society. If you’re a true crime fanatic or simply fascinated by mob history — as anyone would be — this is the place for you.

It’s an interactive experience with many exhibits so you can truly understand everything that went on. Although you can read about much of the mob history online and hear about it in various podcasts and videos, there’s nothing quite like seeing artifacts firsthand.

It’s a nonprofit organization that exists solely to educate and display, so consider making a donation while you’re there to thank them for what they’re doing!

  1. The Flamingo Habitat

When people think of going to Vegas, they don’t think of much wildlife but there is actually quite an amazing spot for the animal lovers of the group.

The four-acre gardens can be found in the heart of Vegas and will make it feel like you stepped into another world, away from the buzz of the city. There are streams and waterfalls along with different animals to see, including Chilean flamingos, songbirds, koi, and hummingbirds.

There’s no reservation or ticket required. You can simply show up and look around, meaning it’s perfect for a busy weekend. You don’t have to work to squeeze it into your schedule and can go whenever you find a spare moment to relax.

Sometimes it’s what you need during an otherwise busy weekend in this large and exciting city.

  1. Indoor Skydiving

When you think of skydiving, you usually think of the great outdoors. Vegas proves its uniqueness once again by providing a complete indoor experience with a simulation.

For those who love an adrenaline rush, take it one step further than the rides at the top of the Strat and indulge in this. It includes complete gear and training as well as a full wind tunnel experience and will feel like you’re doing the real thing.

If you’ve been wanting to try real skydiving but haven’t been able to work up the courage, this might be the step you can take towards it!

Fit These Into a Weekend in Vegas

When you have a weekend in Vegas, it can be difficult to know what to prioritize. There are a number of things you can do that are unique to the Vegas experience, but these things are a must.

They’ll satisfy everyone in your group, from those who want a thrill to those who want to relax and enjoy the wildlife away from the constant buzz.
